Giffgaff
So my contact has ended with O2. This giffgaff thingymejig looks appealing. Is there a catch or do I just sign up for double my current data sim only no contract, for 3x cheaper?!?

Anyone taking the plunge?

Re: Giffgaff
Been giffgaff three years three of us at home.
Signal is fine but 4g isnt the greatest.
Apart from that if you dont want a contract tou wont go wrong.

Re: Giffgaff
I've been with Giffgaff for few years. I'm on wifi all day so I don't use much data, most calls I make are to other Giffgaff users so they are free, unlimited texts. All for £7.50 a month. Control the account online too. Can't beat it.

Re: Gutted?
Gifgaf use o2 but sadly this means when using 4 g lots of places you are using Vodafone such as the west of London and south London. Also in London Vodafone provide a lot of
the transmission and antenna's for o2 , this is also done the other way in some fucked up agreement to counteract mbnl which is the superior network of 3 + ee partnership.. O2 and vf are playing catch up which they are as o2 use Nokia and Ericsson base sites not the crappy huawei and samsung option mbnl have begun using. Although vf use huwaei they are returning to Nokia . its all about providing the cheapest service as that's all the customers really want ,unless your prepared to pay it will only get worse as prices are throttled and the kit gets worse with more of it through our lust for data.

Re: Gutted?
The only catch with 3 is that their Internet is fucking shit and would hardly ever work for me.
Been with giff gaff a few years now and can't fault it, went away for a few weeks in the summer and as I knew I wouldn't be using my phone I just swapped to a lower tariff for that month..

Looked into it.

Could get cheaper with a sim only staying with 3 (£9 a month for a year contract, which I needed) unlimited texts and minutes (not that I need those) and 4GB. The catch, for some, being that is without their no roaming thing in some country (home is not one of them for me, anyway) and no tethering the data.

For balance - I was with them, but dropped them when they had a major outage a few years back. Might be better now.

if you dont mind signing up to a 12 month contract, Three are a lot cheaper (4gb internet / unlimited calls and texts for £9pm)

Plus you don't have to "take the plunge" - no contracts with Giff Gaff

Not with them but all of my kids have used them, they use o2 network and they are cheap

Re: Giffgaff
I'm with them, £12-£15 a month rolling contract.

4G is a patchy occasionally but good value over the high street bastards.

been with them for years

If you know how to use quidco / HUKD and cashback offers then there are even better deals out there

Re: Giffgaff
Giff Gaff have been a Which recommended provider for a few years now.

They piggy back off O2 I think - have been with them for a year now with a phone and rolling SIM contract and have been quite pleased. Plus they offer 4G for the same sort of figure as other providers quote for 3G.

No catch is there, you haven't bought from them so data and call plans will be a lot cheaper
